My Story
Early on
From a young age I was a fairly empathic kid who was drawn, seemingly inexplicably at the time, to help people in pain. In high school I would be drawn to the person who had a headache, stomach ache or monthly cramps. Without any idea of what I was doing, I needed to put my hands on that person. After I felt I was done laying hands on someone, they would comment, “Wow, my pain is gone”. Feeling a bit “green around the gills”, I would say that was great and then proceed to experience the person's pain for the next 3 hours to several days. I had no idea what an empath was back then or how to protect myself from taking others' pain.
As a child I was raised catholic and attended a catholic elementary school. By age 15 I realized that I no longer resonated with what the catholic church was teaching me. (Absolutely no judgment for those who find solace in Christianity.) Thus began my headlong dive into eastern beliefs, religions and ideologies. I was guided to a Reiki Master Teacher in my 20’s.
First Spiritual & Energetic Awakening
During our first session, the Reiki Master educated me about empaths and how to protect ourselves. The next two years were spent studying with this Reiki Master Teacher and apprenticed in the Reiki Master Teacher program learning to give Reiki attunements, teach a Reiki Class and how to incorporate gemstones, crystals, pendulum readings, intuition and chakra balancing in Reiki sessions with clients. This same Reiki Master also taught a psychic development class.
Concurrently with the Reiki apprenticeship, while attending psychic development I learned about spirit guides and how to communicate with them, meditation, palmistry, numerology, symbolism, flame readings, auric readings, automatic writing, house clearing of unwanted or stuck spirits, transfiguration and mediumship. I had finally found my wheel house.
The Next Stage of My Becoming
After completing my training I partnered with my best friend to start a business teaching Reiki classes, apprenticing Reiki students to become Reiki Master Teachers, taught meditation classes, taught an 8 month chakra class and worked with a team of four to do house and business clearings of those previously mentioned unwanted stuck spirits.
One principle of a Reiki session is that you “zip up” the client before they leave. What does that mean? The Reiki practitioner must close, seal up the client energetically before they leave so that the client isn’t wide open and raw trying to interface with the world after a session.
As an intuitive, during Reiki sessions I’d end up excavating a tremendous amount of emotional and mental issues with the client. I knew how to zip the client up energetically before they left but it became apparent to me that I didn’t have the tools in my tool box to help the client heal, to zip up mentally and emotionally. Thus, I went back to school to get the credentials to do just that. Hence, a masters degree as a social worker to provide psychotherapy in Clinical Adult Mental Health.
Post Masters Degree
It was a privilege to work in a 28 day dual diagnosis rehab facility as a therapist helping addicts who simultaneously had a mental health diagnosis. I was that whacky therapist with gem stones and crystals in her office, who taught clients about mindfulness techniques, breathwork, yoga and quantum entanglement.
There was also time spent as a therapist working with children who had been removed from the home and were working toward reunification with their parents/caregivers. My last office job was working as a therapist in outpatient drug rehab with dual diagnosed mental health and addiction clients.
Then Life Happened
In 2017 life drastically changed when I acquired a traumatic brain injury (tbi). Recovering from the tbi has been a long arduous journey. If you want to learn more about my tbi journey click HERE. I’m finally at a place in my recovery where I can and am excited to start helping others again.
My Approach
You are a divine being, a spiritual being having a physical experience. As a spiritual being having a human physical experience you are complex. My approach is to honor that complexity consisting of mental, emotional, physical, social, ancestral, cultural, familial, and spiritual multi-dimensions of you.
With love, compassion, tenderness and empathic directness it is my passion to lead you toward truth and healing. Truth of your heart, your soul’s calling, hard truths to face and heal from, truth of who you really are. We all have our gifts, one of mine is to find, excavate and help beautiful souls heal trauma. With excitement, gratitude and love I am honored to walk this journey with you!
